Welcome to Local 310 of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union, the only national union dedicated to protecting and improving the benefits of mail handlers in the United States Postal Service. Our local is one of 37 locals through the entire USA. As representatives of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union (NPMHU), we invest in our regional community to become your resources for assistance and questions about your benefits and rights as a mail handler in our state.

Contract negotiations

The primary purpose of NPMHU Local 310 is to negotiate and enforce agreements with the U.S. Postal Service in Georgia, including national and local level contracts to establish wages, cost-of-living adjustments and other pay increases, working conditions, and fringe benefits for all workers within our jurisdiction. We work with trained legal experts, negotiators, and union leaders nationwide to ensure high-quality negotiations that protect union members and their families.

Guidance

In addition to leading the negotiation process on your behalf, our local is a democratic organization, where the majority rule matters: You have a right to be heard and the right to vote to express your concerns. Our members elect all local and national officers by secret mail ballot. In this way, our union members can access professional guidance from highly trained legal experts, as well as influence and guide their own careers and interests by giving voice to the issues that matter to them.

 Grievances

It’s our mission to protect the rights of mail handlers in Georgia by representing our members in day-to-day problems on the job, like discipline, violations of seniority, discrimination, or other management abuse, and addresses such workplace concerns as safety, health, and the impact of technological change. We provide all the necessary documents and forms to file complaints, as well as information and resources on the third-party review board to appeal any actions you feel violate your rights. Your Local Experts


Our union representatives are experts in the field, and should be your first line of defense if you experience a problem at work. As a group negotiating for mail handlers’ rights, we fight for better contracts whether you’re a union member or not. In order to be effective and reach the best agreements with U.S. Postal Service on your behalf, we invest a significant amount of time, effort, and resources into training our team and making sure you have access to the resources you need. Our union representatives working directly with the USPS have access to unlimited training and resources from the national headquarters to equip them to work effectively.
